Invar 42 Bars consist primarily of approximately 41% nickel with the balance iron and trace elements such as manganese, silicon, carbon, sulfur, and chromium. The alloy features a low coefficient of thermal expansion (~5.3 µm/m°C at 20–100°C), tensile strength around 490 MPa, yield strength near 248 MPa, and elongation above 40%. It combines good machinability, toughness, and corrosion resistance with a density of about 8.11 g/cm³.
